Truckers strike total - Star of Mysore

Over 6,000 lorries stay off roads; District Lorry Owners stage symbolic dharna in front of DC Office Mysore/Mysuru: Goods transport in the city and district came to a standstill today following a Nationwide Truckers’ Stir in protest against rising fuel prices and seeking fulfilment of their various other demands.  Transporters and lorry owners of Karnataka had announced their support to the one-day stir called by several National-level Trucker and Goods Transport Associations. In Mysuru, the strike was led by Mysuru District Lorry Owners Association, with support from South Zone Motor Transporters Welfare Association, The Mysuru Bandipalya Lorry Owners Association, RMC Lorry Owners Association, MNGT Railway Goods Shed Lorry Owners Association, Mysuru City Unit of  Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association and Sand Lorry Stand Association.

Railway Goods Shed lorry parking row: DC instructs TAPCMS to allow lorry parking for three months

Mysore/Mysuru: The row over parking of Mysore New Goods Terminal (MNGT) lorries in Taluk Agricultural Produce Cooperative Marketing Society (TAPCMS) premises has temporarily come to an end with Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri instructing the TAPCMS on Jodi Tenginamara Road in Bannimantap to allow lorries to park for three more months. The TAPCMS had locked up its premises which was used as lorry stand, a couple of days ago, causing a lot of inconvenience for lorry owners. As the TAPCMS locked up the lorry stand gate, the MNGT lorry owners were forced to park their lorries along Jodi Tenginamara Road, which posed traffic problems on the road.

Closure of lease period : TAPCMS locks its lorry stand area to take up developmental works Mysore/Mysuru: Following the 15-year lease period of the lorry stand at Taluk Agricultural Produce Co-operative Marketing Society (TAPCMS) Limited taken by Railway Goods Shed Lorry Owners Association coming to an end yesterday, the TAPCMS  authorities have locked the gate of the lorry stand on Jodi Thenginamara Road in Bannimantap, which has forced the truck owners to park their vehicles on either side of the road causing disruption in smooth movement of vehicles since last evening. Also, about 100 trucks are stuck inside the lorry stand and unable to come out as the gate is locked besides causing problems to transport essential commodities which have arrived in goods trains.
