Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 18 (ANI): The rail roko agitation by farmers was peaceful in Uttar Pradesh, said Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Law and Order UP Police. Kisan Andolan in UP peaceful so far. Neither any law & order situation have been reported nor rail roko agitation anywhere till 11 am. We re ensuring that no anti-social elements in the garb of farmers ruin peaceful protest. Police instructed to take strict action against them, Kumar told ANI.
Meanwhile many incidents of protesters blocking trains are reported from several parts of the country.

Indian farmers announce to hold Rail Roko protest against new agricultural laws
NEW DELHI (Dunya News/AFP) – The Indian Railways has deployed 20 additional companies of the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) as farmers set to hold rail roko protest against the new agricultural laws.
Farmer unions committee Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced to block rail system, demanding to repeal the new law. “Rail blockade will be held across the country from 12 pm to 4 pm”, SKM representative said.
Tens of thousands of farmers have been camping on the outskirts of Delhi since November calling for a repeal of the reforms that free up farm produce markets.

New Delhi: The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) will on Thursday carry out a nationwide ‘rail roko’ agitation in protest against the Centre’s three contentious agriculture laws for which farmers across north India have been on a dharna in the national capital of Delhi.
BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait on Wednesday had said that the ‘Rail Roko Andolan’ will be held from 12 pm to 4 pm across India today.
