On Monday, Governor Phil Murphy announce that all workers in certain state and private health care facilities and high-risk congregate settings are now required to get vaccinated against the Covid-19 coronavirus or they ll have to get tested for Covid-19 at least 1-2 times per week.
Choice is theirs.
“While reaching our statewide vaccination goal has so far dampened the impact of the Delta variant in New Jersey, some of our most vulnerable populations remain at risk of serious illness or death from COVID-19 primarily due to exposure to unvaccinated individuals,” Governor Murphy said in a Monday statement. “We are taking this step today because it has been proven time and time again that vaccines save lives and are our way out of this pandemic. RWJ Barnabas Health mandates all employees take COVID-19 shot
RWJ Barnabas Health made it official Monday that all employees and medical staff will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by Oct. 15.
The health system earlier required those in a supervisory position or higher to show proof of vaccination by the end of June or face termination. Six employees did not comply and are no longer employed by RWJ Barnabas Health.
As expected, RWJ Barnabas Health issued a mandate for all other workers to roll up their sleeve, according to Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Quality Officer John F. Bonamo. As with supervisory personnel, failure to comply will result in separation from the organization.

RWJ-BH announced on Monday that they are extending their Covid-19 vaccine mandate to all of their staff and employees including new employees and medical staff and everyone must have their 2nd dose of the vaccine by October 15, 2021.
Up until now, RWJ-BH said they had mandated vaccinations for staff at the supervisors level and above.
So far, RWJBarnabas Health said the vast majority of the management team has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
If you re looking for numbers, 2,979 staff members, or 99.7 percent, who are at the supervisor level and above, have been fully vaccinated as of July 14 or have received medical and religious exemptions or a deferral.
