A court in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has granted bail to three Hindu activists accused of harassing two Catholic nuns and their students.
Railway police arrested student leader Ajay Shankar Tiwari, Anchal Arjaria, president of Rashtra Bhakt Sangathan, and Purgesh Amaria, secretary of Hindu Jagran Manch, on April 2 in connection with the incident.

Jhansi : , April 8 (IANS) Three right wing leaders, including an Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) member, involved in harassing two nuns and their two students recently, have been granted bail by the city magistrate s court.
All the three were released from the jail on Wednesday evening.
All the three accused persons, Ajay Shankar Tiwari, an ABVP member, Anchal Arjaria, president of Rashtra Bhakt Sangathan and Purgesh Amaria, secretary of the Hindu Jagran Manch, were arrested by GRP on April 2 in connection with the harassment of two nuns and their two students, who were travelling to Rourkela in Orissa from Delhi on Utkal Express on March 19.
JHANSI: Two weeks after the report of two nuns being harassed and deboarded from a running train after they were accused of taking two young girls for religious conversion hit the headlines, police arrested two youths late on Thursday evening, reports Arindam Ghosh.
Identified as Anchal Arjaria, president, Rashtra Bhakt Sangathan and Purgesh Amaria, secretary, Hindu Jagran Manch, the two are accused of harassing the nuns at the Jhansi railway station.
As per the Jhansi police, punitive action was taken against the people involved in misbehavior towards nuns and adolescent girls in the Utkal Express on March 19, 2021. Arjaria and Amaria were also planning a protest accusing police of lack of action against the nuns, said a police officer.
