Zagitova omitted from Russian figure skating team for Olympic season Friday, 14 May 2021
Olympic champion Alina Zagitova and two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva have not been included in the Russian Figure Skating Federation s (RFSF) national team for the 2021-2022, putting their hopes of competing at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games at risk.
Their omission from the team was confirmed by RFSF general director Alexander Kogan, as reported by Russia s official state news agency
TASS. The lists were approved by the Executive Committee yesterday, they will be published by the Ministry of Sports, said Kogan. Zagitova and Medvedeva are not on the lists approved by the Executive Committee yesterday.
Following the conclusion of the 2021 Russian national championships, the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation met to discuss and approve the entries for the 2021 World Championships and to consider options for new competitions in the first part of the New Year.

Russia planning replacement for cancelled European Figure Skating Championships Sunday, 13 December 2020
The Russian Figure Skating Federation (RFSF) is considering staging events to fill the void caused by the cancellation of next month’s International Skating Union (ISU) European Figure Skating Championships.
RFSF President Alexander Gorshkov said he was keen to keep athletes in fine fettle as preparation builds ahead of the 2021 World Championships which is due to take place from March 22 to 28 in Swedish capital Stockholm.
The European Championships was scheduled to be held from January 25 to 31 2021 in Croatian capital Zagreb only to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
