Subscriber only Wet weather has forced the cancellation of the street drags on day three of the Rare Spares Rockynats. The high-speed action was set to start in Quay Street at 9am Sunday but Advance Rockhampton manager of tourism, marketing and events, Annette Pearce, said in the best interests of safety, the event would not go ahead. Rain on Saturday night also cut short the burnouts at the Reaney Street precinct by about 90 minutes. Those events would be added to Sunday s program, which includes the championship and Masters finals. Ms Pearce said anyone with a Saturday-only Rockynats ticket would be allowed entry to the burnouts precinct on Sunday.

Phil âCrashâ Alexander embarked on an epic ride to get to the Rare Spares Rockynats.
His 2929km journey earned him the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Chapter Challenge award for the rider who travelled the longest distance to attend the three-day car festival in Rockhampton.
He received his trophy on Sunday morning before he and several hundred riders took on the Thunder Run, a round trip from Rockhampton to Yeppoon.
âI heard about Rockynats not long after Christmas. We hadnât been out of Darwin for a while so it was like âyep, letâs goâ,â he said.
It s been great so far - down here on Quay Street today and yesterday in the street parade, which was sensational. A heap of Rocky people turned out for it. It was great to be part of it and great to see the local community get involved. Thousands of people flocked to Rockhampton s CBD on Saturday during day two of Queensland s biggest car festival.   They marvelled at the spectacular custom and classic vehicles in the show n shine, admired gleaming motorcycles in the bikes precinct and took in the high-octane action of the street drags. Robert said this was the first time he had entered his car in an event.
To have 850-plus cars and nearly 200 bikes parading through Rockhampton was quite a sight to see and we re really proud of the whole thing. As far as we know, it s the biggest automotive and bike street parade ever held in Australia. It s much bigger than Summernats that we do down in Canberra, that s for sure. Â

Preparations have hit top gear with the spectacular start to the inaugural Rare Spare Rockynats just fewer than 24 hours away.
Thousands of spectators and entrants are descending on Rockhampton for Queensland’s biggest car festival, which starts at 11.30am Friday with an 800-car street parade through the city’s CBD.
The jam-packed program, which runs across the Easter weekend, also includes street drags, burnouts, drifting and a show ‘n’ shine in which hundreds of custom and classic street machines will be parked along the historic Quay Street.
Advance Rockhampton manager of tourism, marketing and events, Annette Pearce, said it was exciting to see Rockynats coming to fruition, almost a year after the event was postponed in 2020 due to COVID.
