Hospitals do audit, use devices for delivering appropriate amounts to patients
Facing high demand, many hospitals have chalked out strategies for the optimal use of oxygen. From doing their own oxygen audits to turning to devices for delivering appropriate amounts to patients, a number of hospitals are leaving no stone unturned to prevent wastage.
TVS Motor Company has said it will supply 2,000 oxygen concentrators to hospitals and health centres in India to help fight the nations second wave of coronavirus (Covid-19) infections.

Tamil Nadu’s daily COVID-19 case count surpassed the 30,000-mark on Wednesday, with 30,355 more people testing positive for the infection and 293 succumbing to it. The overall tally touched 14,68,864 and toll 16,471.
Four districts Chennai, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore and Tiruvallur accounted for 46% of the fresh infections. More than half the fatalities were reported in these districts.
Chennai accounted for 7,564 cases and 89 deaths, followed by Chengalpattu with 2,670 cases and 28 deaths. As many as 2,636 people tested positive and 18 died in Coimbatore, while there were 1,344 cases and 21 deaths in Tiruvallur.

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation has distributed 300 oxygen concentrators to government hospitals in the city for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
The concentrators were given to the Tamil Nadu government by international companies OLAM International and Temasek on May 10 in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin.

It is getting requests for more beds daily from hospitals across the State
As the demand grows, the Public Works Department (PWD) is expediting the work on providing 12,900 additional oxygen beds across Tamil Nadu in four or five days.
It has so far provided 6,650 beds equipped with oxygen support to many hospitals for COVID-19 patients. In Chennai, nearly 1,770 beds with oxygen lines are ready for use at major hospitals, including Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.
Besides 1,000 more beds at major Chennai hospitals, similar infrastructure is being created at 11 other hospitals in and around the city, including peripheral hospitals and Government RSRM Lying-in Hospital. Only 25% of the work is pending.
