TN Govt Hospital Successfully Treats Covid-19 Patients with Over 70% Lung Involvement FOLLOW US ON: Three COVID-19 patients, two of them with lung involvement between 75 and 95 per cent, were discharged after succesful treatment in a government facility here, a top Health department official said here on Thursday. The treatment of the two men and a 68-year old woman at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) and their recovery and discharge was significant and a success story, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan said. The men, aged 37 and 45, had 75 and 95 per cent lung involvement (infection of the lungs) respectively, he said. The younger of the men was in the Intensive Care Unit for 45 days and later shifted to a ward and put on oxygen support for more 45 days, following which he has recovered.

He was isolated in a separate room in the hospital soon after he tested positive for COVID-19 and all his contacts were also tested. Those who travelled with him on the flight were tested and found to be negative. He is doing well,” Mr. Radhakrishnan told reporters following an inspection at the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.

The State reported 957 cases and 12 deaths on the day taking the tally to 8,16,132 and the toll to 12,092. The last time Tamil Nadu reported less than 1,000 new cases was on May 30 when 938 cases were registered. On May 30, 12,605 samples were tested in the State giving a test positivity rate for the day of 7.4%.
