Jharkhand HC defers hearing in matter of jail manual violation by Lalu Prasad ANI | Updated: Feb 26, 2021 22:51 IST Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], February 26 (ANI): The Jharkhand High Court on Friday deferred the hearing for March 5 in the matter of an alleged violation of jail manual by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav. During the previous hearing, Justice Apresh Kumar had directed Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) to submit a report on the matter. During today s hearing, it was informed that the RIMS report has been submitted to the court. But it was not found on the Court s record. The High Court gave time till March 5 and directed the state council to provide the RIMS report and other documents on the next hearing.

The high court was hearing the bail plea of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and accused in the treasury case Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fourth fodder scam case related to the excess withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from the Dumka Treasury.

The decision spread a pall of gloom among RJD leaders and workers in Patna and Ranchi who were hoping that Mr. Prasad would come out of jail.

Jharkhand High Court rejects Lalu Prasad Yadav s bail plea in fodder scam ANI | Updated: Feb 19, 2021 17:57 IST Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], February 19 (ANI): The Jharkhand High Court on Friday rejected Lalu Prasad Yadav s bail plea in the Dumka treasury case asking the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief to file a fresh petition after two months. Yadav, who has been in prison since December 2017, was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in 2018 under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and seven years under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with the fodder scam case. Lalu s lawyer sought bail on the ground that Yadav had completed of half sentence but the court said the calculation was short by two months and rejected the petition. It asked him to file a fresh petition after two months.
