Logitech G413 Carbon review: A solid mechanical keyboard that nails all the basics

Source: Rich Edmonds / Windows Central Mechanical keyboards have become incredibly affordable over the years. Even some of the best keyboards can be found at reasonable prices. The more you spend on a mechanical keyboard, the better the build quality, and more features will be present. This does provide vendors like Logitech some wriggle room to cut some corners and offer great keyboards at lower prices. This is precisely where the Logitech G413 Carbon fits in. It s not the most expensive keyboard on the block, but it s also not the most affordable. Think of the G413 as your new go-to mid-range mechanical gaming keyboard. It s a frameless typing machine with all the basics a gamer needs for playing the latest PC games.

Here s why I will only buy low-profile keyboards from now on

Source: Daniel Rubino / Windows Central I spent most of my computing life typing much as I m sure most people have: tapping and typing away on large, chunky keyboards. That includes the basic whatever-came-with-the-unattractive-Dell-tower kind we used in my high school typing class, but I also grew an affinity for gaming keyboards as I dipped my toes more into PC gaming. Several hundred hours of my life spent in front of a PC were done so with World of Warcraft and some of the best gaming keyboards from Razer and Logitech. Naturally, for the longest time, that meant accepting that my keyboard would forever occupy a stupidly large amount of desk space, especially if I wanted all of the various macro keys, volume knobs, and even secondary screens (anyone remember the Logitech G15?). As mechanical keyboards started becoming the standard, I also grew to love the clickety-clack sound and feel of well-built keyboards like the Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition.

EVGA Z20 Opto-Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

All Specs Chances are that when you think about EVGA, keyboards aren’t the first thing that comes to mind. Graphics cards are number one, obviously, then other components, such as motherboards and power supplies. The company s PC contributions are typically internal, but there are exceptions like its new, $174 EVGA Z20 gaming keyboard. It has dedicated macro keys, media controls, USB passthrough, and the much-less common audio passthrough. But to make a great keyboard, rather than merely a flashy one, a manufacturer must nail the fundamentals. EVGA misses the mark with the Z20. Its keycaps feel loose and unstable, and the Light Strike LK optical switches sound tinny. Without the solid foundation of a great typing experience, all the comforts in the world can’t make the Z20 into a competitive flagship keyboard.
