Richland Police Department officials released few additional details in the disappearance of Richland Fire Chief Brandon Weems, but suggested he may be on medical leave following the incident.
Officials would not give details about the circumstance of the disappearance including where Weems was found, if he had been there the whole time, whether he was hospitalized Thursday and if he would be on leave. When Weems was found, he was suffering from dehydration, according to Richland police spokesperson Allison Clark.
Richland Mayor Pat Sullivan said it s too early to know if Weems will be placed on leave, adding that they are giving the family space to adjust to everything that happened.

Rankin County deputies arrested a man Wednesday after a woman was found stabbed to death in a home.
According to Rankin County Sheriff s Office news release, deputies and the fire department were dispatched to the 200 block of Shady Hill Drive in Star for a medical call.
During the check-up on Joseph Dean Kersh, 65, deputies discovered the woman s body. A sword, which appeared to have been used to stab the woman, was found next to the her body, according to the release.

“It’s exciting,’ said 9-year-old Ethan Walker. “I’m glad I was able to get her out.”
The ordeal happened Jan. 7 when, about 1:30 p.m., Kristin Walker was putting gas into her vehicle in the area of U.S. 411 and Interstate 20. Her two small children – Ethan and 6-year-old daughter Audrey – were in the back seat. At that point, a man got out of a Chevrolet SUV which had been parked at a pump near the victim and jumped into the driver’s seat of the woman’s vehicle.
