Springfield Man Found Dead Following Cottontown Shooting
COTTONTOWN TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield man is dead and another man injured following a shooting and subsequent suicide in Cottontown Wednesday morning.
Around 9:05 am, Deputies responded to 132 Shun Pike in Cottontown for a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived to find that an adult male had been shot in the face while outside of that location. Deputies and Sumner County EMS rendered aid, and the victim was transported from the scene by LifeFlight.

According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses at the scene described and identified Dontarius Long, age 25 of Springfield, as having been the shooter. Mr. Long was reported to have fled the scene on foot along with a female juvenile. Witnesses stated that Long and the juvenile were last seen running toward Hwy. 76.
Parent suspended after using racial slur at game involving Springfield Middle School
SPRINGFIELD, Tennessee (WSMV) A Springfield Middle School parent was suspended after yelling those slurs the coach and using them on Facebook.
Latoya Groves said her son is being discriminated against that the baseball coach at this middle school doesn’t let him play because he is black. It is worth noting here, that the baseball coach is also black.
Groves was suspended from two games following the use of racist language at the games and on Facebook – both directed at the coach. In a Facebook live video recorded at a game said, “he doesn’t relate to black people because he thinks he’s white.”

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy, Lt. Mark Wojnarek, was recognized by Clarksville Civitans for his 20 years of service to Montgomery County. Wojnarek began his career in law enforcement in 1997 with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.

SPRINGFIELD, Tennessee (WSMV) A Springfield Middle School parent was suspended from the baseball diamond after yelling racial slurs at the coach.
Latoya Groves doubled down on her words Thursday. She admitted to calling the coach, ‘coach c–n’ at a game, then taking to Facebook where she called him a ‘house n -.’
“I don’t care about my language,” she said. “They don’t care about our kids, then I don’t care about how they feel, and I’m going to call them what they are.”
