As carjackings surge in Twin Cities, sheriff says watch for these tactics
Law enforcement was getting reports about people being robbed of their vehicles as they sat in them, or as they walked to or away from their cars. Now, they’re hearing about people being blocked in by suspect vehicles or carjackers causing minor crashes to get drivers out of their vehicles, among other distraction techniques.

ST. PAUL During a carjacking this week, people pulled up to a man driving in Little Canada and used their vehicle to block his path. Four people approached and ordered him at gunpoint to exit his vehicle and leave his wallet. They drove off in his vehicle.

Eight corrections officers who allege they were ordered to avoid Derek Chauvin while he was in jail because they re not white have filed a lawsuit against Ramsey County.
The corrections officers, who identify as Black, Hispanic, Pacific-Islander and mixed-race, work at the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center (ADC), where Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with the murder George Floyd, was being held after he was charged.
The eight jail workers say ADC Superintendent Steve Lydon gave verbal orders prohibiting them from interacting with and guarding Chauvin, as well as being ordered not to go anywhere near the fifth floor where he was being held, the 30-page lawsuit filed in Ramsey County District Court on Tuesday says.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 9) - A woman has been charged for hitting Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher in the face while he was responding to a domestic incident over the weekend, according to charges filed in Ramsey County Attorney s Office.
Shania Anshelle Phelps, 21, has been charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer.
