Town Mayor, Cllr Dunleavey and Chief Officer, Judith Giles declare new lift open The Mayor of Romsey Town, Cllr Karen Dunleavey officially opened the new lift in the Town Hall on July 27. The lift will allow for easier access to the second floor which hosts an array of events including the popular Romsey Antique Collectibles and Arts Fair which recently returned to the town after lock down. Chief officer, Judith Giles said: “I am delighted the Town Hall now has a lift that can take people from the ground floor to the second floor Council Chamber. This will enable greater usage of the Council Chamber which can accommodate 150 theatre style.”

Dovey and Broom Hair Salon has branched out to offer a specialised hair loss treatment service. The service, which is carried out by the newest salon worker, Rachel Cardy can be accessed by anyone wanting treatments for conditions such as alopecia or stress related hair loss and Rachel is also keen to reach out to those who have experienced hair loss after cancer treatments. Rachel said: “I have been treating hair loss for a lot of years, I’m 64 now. “I started doing cancer after care, I sort of invented after care because the hair and scalp are very different after cancer. I often take referrals from GP’s and hospitals for these treatments.

Multimillion-pound redevelopment plans at Romsey Abbey gets approval

Church leaders and architects outlined an ambitious project for Romsey Abbey, that could cost up to £7million. A new cloister was proposed on the southern side of the building, an enclosed walkway to run alongside the Abbey to preserve the external Saxon Rood and plans to adapt space inside the church were all up for discussion. Architect Neill Beasley, of The Genesis Design Studio, showed his ideas to the meeting with the cloister to be a modern extension to the abbey. Neill said: In order to get funding the thinking needs to be big. The proposals were well received across the board, and people felt encouraged about a cross-generational approach to the future of the Abbey.
