The number of coronavirus cases in the state of Illinois continues a slow decline, as the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 198 new cases Saturday statewide and 15 deaths. State numbers as of this morning are at 1,387,297 cases and 23,050 deaths. The latest numbers from the Wayne County Health Department Friday indicated 1799 total cases for the county and four residents isolating. Reports from around the area indicated one death was recorded Friday in Jefferson County, a male in his 80s, and two females in their 80s from Lawrence County. Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert Jr. issued a statement late last week regarding the Environmental Protection Agency's and Army Corps of Engineers announcement of their intention to reverse the Navigable Waters Protection Rule.
