Reassurances have been given that work to replace gas pipes in the centre of Pickering will be completed as soon as possible following concerns from local residents. Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is replacing pipework under the road near the roundabout junction of the A170 and A169. Pascal Watkins, who runs Cawthorne House, guest house, said: This has brought Pickering to a standstill with gridlock, has severely threatened the quality of the visitor experience which is devastating for those of us just re-opening. It is criminal that these decisions can take place without consultation or consideration for the local economy. Pickering relies almost in its entirety on tourism for the local economy.

The first Thursday of May is World Password Day, and this year it’s today, 6 May 2021. First celebrated in 2013, this day is meant to serve as a reminder of the importance of good password hygiene.
REPAIRS to a road dubbed “Norton’s worst” have been described as amateurish and bodged-up . Over the last week highways contractors from North Yorkshire County Council (NYCC) have been repairing sections of Langton Road with temporary road closures in place. However, the work has been criticised by many people who feel the road should have been completely resurfaced. Local resident Mark Wilson, said: The work done is an absolute disgrace and whoever gave this order should be ashamed of themselves and held accountable for wasting public money on a job that will need doing again properly in a year or two. Very poor management skills.
