Mr. Michael âMikeâ Axelson, beloved brother, uncle and good friend to so many, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, Dec. 20, at his home at The Springs of Butte, surrounded by his family.
Mike was born on Jan. 17, 1942, to Arlo and Wilda (Parker) Axelson and attended local schools, including the Washington Grade School.
He began working for his parents at Richards Funeral Home on Montana Street and held a variety of other occupations throughout his life, but his longest held and favorite was as a client at BSW on Wyoming Street. He looked forward to going to work each day, so that he could spend time working with his much cherished BSW family.

He also has stories handed down from the previous owners of Ward’s Funeral Home.
Once, Jerry recalled, the funeral home had 11 or 12 services pending and eight different shapes of caskets for mourners to choose from. Those were the days when it was common for the deceased to be taken to their home for viewing.
On one such extra busy occasion, when Buck Ward took a body to a home, upon opening the casket, the deceased woman’s husband told him, “That’s her casket, and that’s her dress, but that’s not her.”
Gary Robert Selner made his way home to the Lord on Dec. 13, 2020, after a lifelong battle with muscular dystrophy.
Throughout his 26 years, Gary brought light, laughter, and joy to everyone who had the good fortune of meeting him. His disability never defined him, and no one who knew Gary pitied him. Instead, his courage and perseverance motivated others to improve their own lives.
Gary graduated with honors from Cairo-Durham High School in 2012. He went on to earn several certifications in gemology from the Gemological Institute of America. Gary enjoyed crafting jewelry for friends and family, cheering on his favorite NASCAR drivers, and sampling all sorts of different hot sauces. He also taught himself about stock trading and writing code, which he put toward numerous self-directed projects. He was very proud of Progress, his homemade remote-control rover.
