An online fundraiser seeks to support a Richmond Museum of History & Culture program that invites K-12 students to educator-guided tours of the museum.
It’s part of the museum’s goal to “bring every child in Richmond to the museum before they graduate high school.”
Along with the tour, the educator can also guide students in complementary educational activities tailored to the State of California History-Social Studies curriculum, “so that it [complements] what the students are learning in the classroom,” according to the museum.
Donations to this fundraiser will additionally help maintain the museum’s enrichment program, a weekly drop-in opportunity centered around arts and culture in the community. This year’s program theme, Aspiring Historian, will give young people the chance to explore the world of museums and public history.

The Richmond Museum of History & Culture is relaunching its Friday Enrichment Program for local students Friday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to noon, according to the museum. The free weekly program will now occur in-person at the museum after being held virtually during the pandemic.
The program will feature a new array of art activities for students, who will also receive a free tour of the museum, per organizers. A past program activity included taking students on a virtual trip around the world to experience how different cultures celebrate the holidays, followed by an art project related to their “travels.” There’s no word from the museum yet on what the new program lineup will include.
