The incident prompted a large emergency response near the Tompkinsville station and caused brief delays for Staten Island Railway trains.
The FDNY was called at about 8:35 a.m. to the location in the vicinity of Minthorne Street and Victory Boulevard, according to a spokesman for the agency.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A 43-year-old man was gunned down on Bay Street in Tompkinsville in a shocking broad-daylight slaying on Thursday, according to police.
The man was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton from the incident, which was reported at 11:51 a.m. on the 100 block of Bay Street near Victory Boulevard, according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.
The victim died after he was shot several times at that location, a spokesman for the NYPD said.
