Bedford Countyâs new commissioner took the oath of office on Tuesday in front of a gathering of courthouse employees and representatives from different organizations he has worked with in the past.
Alan Frederick, of Rainsburg, was sworn in by President Judge Travis Livengood, who last week appointed him to fill the spot on the three-member board left vacant by the resignation of former Commissioner Josh Lang earlier this month.
County employees from most departments attended the ceremony. Frederick told the crowd heâs looking forward to âhonest cooperation and communication.â
âHonest communication is the way to keep this county moving forward,â he said.
Teachers and staff in the Everett Area School District were scheduled to received COVID-19 vaccinations today, but their appointment was postponed due to an increased demand in the first phase of the stateâs vaccine distribution.
Superintendent Danny Webb said the district has been working with the Hyndman â Bedford â Richland Family Health Centers for about three weeks to coordinate vaccinations for the district employees.
About 120 district employees were set to receive the first does of the vaccine today, but the appointment was postponed Thursday morning.
Webb said district officials were upset about the short notice and delay to the needed vaccine for teachers.
