Prime Minister Scott Morrison has again reached out to military and intelligence specialists to lead key public service agencies, appointing three new department secretaries with strong defence backgrounds.
Kathryn Campbell, a former Human Services chief and a major-general in the Australian Army Reserve, has been appointed secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to replace Frances Adamson. Ms Adamson has been appointed the governor of South Australia.
Social Services secretary and Australian Army Reserve Major-General Kathryn Campbell will lead the Foreign Affairs department.Â

Mr Morrison also appointed former Chief of Navy Ray Griggs to take over Ms Campbellâs position as secretary of the Social Services Department.

Playing with friends at break, being able to ask a teacher for help if they are stuck: in the unique social experiment that was lockdown, almost all the basic things children took for granted in the early years of school were suddenly taken away.

Last year was tough for everybody, including artists at the Fountain Street Gallery in Boston’s SoWa district. Just a few weeks after the state ordered all non-essential businesses closed last Spring, a massive water main break sent a deluge of muck rushing into the gallery, ensuring that the artist-run space would remain closed for nearly the rest of the year.

But as the saying goes, in every challenge lies an opportunity. The twin misfortunes of pandemic and flooding, harrowing as they were, provided the seed of an idea to the artists at Fountain Street. Since all previous plans had been abruptly sidelined, why not embrace all the unforeseen change in an exhibit dealing specifically with the unexpected events that turn life upside down?
