In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 28, was George Matthew Cripps.
The 25-year-old, of Bourne Road, Thatcham, denies assaulting Bethany Eason-Saunders by beating her, in a domestic violence context, in Thatcham on August 23 last year.
Mr Cripps further denied causing £578 worth of criminal damage to a Mercedez-Benz A-Class belonging to Ms Eason-Saunders on the same occasion.
He was told the case could proceed no further that day and magistrates adjourned it for a trial date to be fixed.
Mr Cripps was meanwhile released on conditional bail.

In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 4, was Nicholas Canes.
The 22-year-old, who lives at Clerewater Place, was accused of assaulting Huno Fulpesi by beating him at The Rowbarge pub in Woolhampton on March 5 last year.
He had previously denied the attack, but subsequently changed his mind and pleaded guilty.
Mr Canes was made subject to a 12-month community order.

A MAN has been fined more than £2,400 after pleading guilty to fly-tipping on the Ridgeway.
David James, from Turbary Gardens, Tadley, was prosecuted following an investigation by officers from West Berkshire Council’s waste team.
The investigation started following a report and supporting evidence provided by a member of the public in October 2019.
There was evidence that Mr James deposited or knowingly caused waste to be fly-tipped on the Ridgeway near Compton, contrary to section 33(1)(a) and section 33(6) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Caulay Robert Suttie appeared in the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 12.
The 20-year-old, who lives at Bartholomew Street, Newbury, admitted possessing more than 4g of the Class A-controlled drug cocaine in Newbury on February 9 last year.
He also admitted possessing 3.57g of the Class B-controlled drug ketamine on the same occasion.
Mr Suttie was made subject to a 12-month conditional discharge.
In addition, he was ordered to pay £85 costs, plus a statutory victim services surcharge of £21. );

A COURT has ordered pre-sentence reports on a woman who admitted driving after drinking nearly five times the legal limit.
The 45-year-old blew the astonishingly high reading after being caught behind the wheel in Thatcham.
In the dock at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, January 12, was Nicola Claire Fishlock.
The 45-year-old, of Fylingdales in Thatcham – who also goes by the name of Nicola Brooks, according to the court – admitted driving a Vauxhall Zafira on Coombe Court, Thatcham, on December 13 last year after drinking more than the legal limit.
