Authority to check unhygienic edibles at tourist sites

PESHAWAR: Director General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KP FS&HFA) Shahrukh Ali Khan Sunday said the authority had deputed special teams at tourist sites of the province to keep check on the quality of food products.
He expressed these views during his visit to Kalam for inspecting field activities of the authority.
According to DG KP FS&HFA , special teams have been formulated for various tourists spots in the province on the special instruction of Minister Food Atif Khan.
Accompanied by the technical team, the DG visited Kalam Bazaar, Osho and Mahudand area and inspected various food outlets.

KP food authority seizes 350 kg unhygienic food items

PESHAWAR: The KP Food Safety & Halal Food Authority has seized over 350 kilograms’ substandard food items and sealed five restaurants across the province during various actions.
According to authority DG Shah Rukh Ali Khan, the food safety team inspected various food outlets in Upper Dir where they checked the SOPs compliance level in food preparation areas. Four restaurants were sealed for the unhygienic condition. They were found using banned items such as China Salt in the food. Heavy fines were imposed on the violators.
Various hotels and food-related businesses were inspected in Swat. The team sealed one restaurant for unhygienic conditions while over 100 litres of expired soft drinks were recovered from other general stores. Food authority confiscates 300kg substandard food items

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority Saturday confiscated more than 300 kilogram substandard food items in different districts of the province during crackdown on substandard and adulteration food items.
The Authority team in an operation in Nowshera seized more than 75 kg of substandard spices, non-food grade color and China salt and imposed heavy fines on shopkeepers.

Shah Rukh Ali Khan, on the directives of Secretary Food Khushal Khan, operations were underway in the province against those selling substandard spices, tea leaves, meat and chicken. 200kg of stale fish was recovered during the operation in Bannu, while various food shops in Lower Dir were inspected, from which more than 16kg of substandard spices were recovered.
