Community College Picks Next President
Bucks County Community College has named its next president.
Dr. Felicia L. Ganther will replace current community college President Dr. Stephanie Shanblatt come July 1 when she retires.
Ganther, a native of Los Angeles who has a doctorate degree in community resources and development from Arizona State University and a law degree from University of Illinois at Chicago’s John Marshall Law School, was selected unanimously by the Bucks County Community College Board of Trustees.
“Dr. Ganther has a remarkable record of accomplishments, both as an educator, administrator, and as a strong advocate for students. She has extensive experience in crisis management, retention initiatives, student life, strategic planning and academic quality improvement,” according to a statement from the trustees

Felicia Ganther has been selected as the next president of Bucks County Community College, becoming the first Black woman to lead the public institution and bringing some 25 years of education and a law degree to the job.
Ganther s three-year contract begins July 1.
Ganther will replace retiring president Stephanie Shanblatt, and will work with her on the transition over the next few months. She will become the fifth president in the college’s 57-year history.
The college currently has about 7,000 students enrolled and an annual budget of more than $83 million.
Despite a slowdown in demand elsewhere in Pennsylvania, Bucks and Montgomery counties are still seeing a steady flow of people wanting a COVID vaccine.
Officials in both counties on Wednesday said they continue to vaccinate thousands each week but added that appointments are open to those who want them. We actually are pretty busy, said Montgomery County Commissioner Chair Val Arkoosh.
Out of 7,000 open appointments next week at county-run sites, all but about 400 or 500 are filled, Arkoosh said, and there are still appointment invitations that haven t been answered.
In addition, about 18,000 people who have signed up for one of Montgomery County s clinics almost all of them in the past 10 days are still waiting invitations for appointments.
