The fair experience you know and love will be returning this summer.
After telling 980 CJME in April that the Queen City Ex coming back for the summer was a real possibility, it’s looking like the hopes of Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) CEO Tim Reid will become a reality.
Planning is well underway for this year’s fair after the 2020 edition was cancelled because of COVID-19. The grounds that have been used as a COVID vaccination and testing site will now be used by thousands of people for something entirely different in August.
Reid spoke with Greg Morgan on Monday morning and gave some insight on what the fair will look like this year.

Over the past several months, tens of thousands of Saskatchewanians have received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at one of 20 drive-thru clinics in the province.
In fact, they’ve proven so successful according to Sheila Anderson, the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s emergency operations centre vaccine chief other provinces want to learn how it’s being done.
“An operational team in Regina presented to our Alberta colleagues … and this really walked through the real guts of our drive-thru, so some of those things you should consider as you stand up a drive-thru and just really how the flow works and the function of the drive-thru,” she explained.

Former mayor Henry Dayday signed the current lease with Prairieland Park in 1995.
The 50-year lease expires in 2045, but if Prairieland Park decides it wants another 20 years under the same terms, a renewal clause kicks in.

So the land owned by the City of Saskatoon taxpayers, actually could be controlled by a corporation that is unaccountable to city council or the public for 70 years.
If that sounds like a lousy idea, that’s what the City of Regina thought about Evraz Place, a similar entity.
