The Renfrew County and District Health Unit is reporting three additional cases of COVID-19 are now considered resolved leaving 15 active cases in Renfrew County and district.
According to the Dec. 23 case summary on the RCDHU website, 205 of the total 221 cases now resolved with one death attributed to the coronavirus early on in the pandemic. The summary shows two additional community cases bringing the total to 164 and one additional student case bringing the total school cases to 24 (10 staff members and 14 students). There have also been 30 cases among health-care workers, including 12 employed outside of RCD and three residents of long-term/care retirement residences.

In a noon-hour press release issued on Dec. 23, the County of Renfrew vows it is doing all it can to protect residents from COVID-19 which includes continuing to operate its essential services.
“The County of Renfrew along with local municipalities, and the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, and Renfrew County Virtual Triage Centre are continuing to work collectively to ensure that all measures are being taken to protect our residents, and staff during this difficult time,” the release reads. “The County of Renfrew remains committed to providing services to our residents in a timely and efficient manner during the continuing pandemic.”

Due to the measures implemented by the provincial government, the Pembroke Memorial Centre, Pembroke and Area Community Centre (Pem Ice II), and the Kinsmen Pool will be closed during this shutdown. Therefore, there will be no public skating, walking at the PMC, swimming or chair yoga during this period. There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in Renfrew County and district Monday, although there were seven additional cases reported on Sunday.
The Dec. 20 Renfrew County and District Health Unit case summary showed seven new cases – four in Laurentian Valley, two in Whitewater Region and one in the City of Pembroke. Three of those cases were health-care workers related to an outbreak at the dental office of Dr. James Gallant, located in Downtown Pembroke. The health unit also declared an outbreak at the office on Dec. 20. There was also a new school case among staff members although no other details were provided.

The COVID-19 in Renfrew County and district continues to flatten with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) listing another 14 cases as being resolved over the last 24 hours.
This according to the daily case summary posted online by the RCDHU. With one new positive test result, there are now nine current cases in the area with all of those people self-isolating at home. The total number of community cases in Renfrew County and districted since the pandemic began is 203 with one death attributed to the virus early on in the pandemic. The number of cases in the Whitewater Region Mennonite community continues to decline with only six active cases reported on Dec. 16, down from 26 on Dec. 14 and 59 on Dec. 13.
