Apple Valley man arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse

Authorities say they believe a 68-year-old Apple Valley man who was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse might have other victims.
San Bernardino County Sheriff s Department deputies arrested George Mantooth on Jan. 14, a day after serving a search warrant at his home. If charged by prosecutors, Mantooth is expected to be arraigned in a Victorville courtroom Tuesday, booking records show.
Sheriff s officials said the investigation began on Jan. 12 after deputies at the Apple Valley Sheriff s Station looked into allegations of a girl being sexually molested.
Investigators identified an additional victim and allege that Mantooth raped her continuously from the age of 13 to adulthood.

A bronze plaque featuring Brooklyn Dodgers legend Jackie Robinson is now featured among other honored heroes at the Civil Rights Memorial outside Victorville City Hall.
Robinson broke major league baseball s color barrier in April 1947 when he donned a Dodgers uniform, replete with the now MLB-retired No. 42.
The name of Bradley Brook Russell is also prominently featured on the plaque, which was installed earlier this month at the garden memorial located on Civic Drive in Victorville.

Johnson said during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, professional caregivers can serve as an extension of the healthcare system and play a critical role in keeping vulnerable seniors safe and healthy at home.

A Victorville man who previously served time in county jail is in custody again after he allegedly stole a vehicle and led authorities on a more than 50-mile pursuit that ended near Barstow.
The Victorville Sheriff’s Station reported that deputies arrested Mykcus Martinez Ceballos, 31, on Tuesday after he allegedly stole a BMW in downtown Victorville and led authorities on the high-speed chase.
Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 16500 block of D Street, where the reporting party saw a male subject enter a 2019 BMW that had been parked outside a business and drive away, the sheriff’s report said.
Hemet man, 25, pleads not guilty to Apple Valley carjacking

A 25-year-old Hemet man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to carjacking, stalking and other felony charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at a 50-year-old woman and took her vehicle in Apple Valley last week.
In Victorville Superior Court, Robert Garcia also denied several enhancements and also pleaded not guilty to making criminal threats, being a felon in possession of a firearm and preventing or dissuading a victim from reporting, court records show.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff s Station responded at approximately 7:20 p.m. Friday to the 12000 block of Standing Bear Road to the carjacking report, the sheriff s department said Tuesday.
