Reno County Health Dept. Offering Weekend Vaccine Option
The Reno County Health Department will be open on Saturday, May 15th from 8 a.m. to noon for walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations. The Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be offered.
The Health Department said that almost 70% of the county’s 65 and older population has been vaccinated, and over 35% of Reno County residents have received at least one dose. They noted that there is still hesitancy amongst the 20 to 49 age group, even while the largest increase in COVID-19 cases have been in the 10 to 19 and 30 to 39 age groups in the past 2 weeks.
The vaccine is free to anyone over the age of 16. Visit vaccinefiner.org to check availability of vaccines and locations.
Dillons, Walmart now offering COVID-19 vaccine without an appointment
Dillons and Walmart both announced Tuesday that they have begun offering the COVID-19 vaccine on a walk-in basis.
The Reno County Health Department also continues offering the service at its offices at 209 W. Second Ave.
“We are strongly encouraging all customers and associates to receive whichever vaccine is available to them at the earliest time of eligibility to curb the spread of COVID-19 in our communities,” said Robert Tomasu, Dillons Health and Wellness Director. And we’ll do all we can to ensure they have access, Tomasu said. At Dillons, we are now making it even easier to obtain a vaccine without the need to schedule an appointment in advance.”
