Rates on sale of $12 million in Reno County GO Bonds near-record low

Low bond markets, a good investor rating and high demand allowed Reno County to garner near record-low rates this week on the sale of $12.08 million in general obligation bonds that will fund several county projects. An official with Raymond James Financial Services, the company that marketed the bonds for the county, noted the sale ended up being overprescribed, allowing rates to be pushed even lower during the negotiated sale of the bonds on Monday. “What really surprised me was we received orders from 23 different investors,” said Greg Vahrenberg, managing director with Raymond James. “They came from a pretty wide geographic mix, from 14 states … It’s not unusual to see (buyers) from outside Kansas, but it is unusual to see so many investors from so many states interested in buying Reno County bonds.”

Ask Hutch: Technotrash

This week, readers were doing some Christmas cleaning and have some odd items to dispose of, as well as questions about school zones. Q: Where can we e-cycle in Hutchinson?  I know TECH used to take electronics for recycling, and I believe the Reno County Landfill did also, but they don’t anymore. I am specifically asking about:  PCs and laptops, networking equipment, tablets, batteries and monitors.   You can take them to ComputerMart. Drop off items and they’ll take it from there. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at 325 W. 2nd Ave., Hutchinson. Contact them at service@cpu-mart.com or 620-663-2598.
