(Will Waldron/Times Union)Will Waldron/Albany Times Union TROY A Rensselaer County grand jury indicted a city man for second-degree murder in the Jan. 15 strangulation death of his wife, according to papers filed with the court clerk. Taquan L. Evans, 35, was indicted in the death of Georlasia B. Evans near their residence on 104th St. between 12 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. Jan. 15.  Police learned of the alleged killing when Georlasia B. Evans body was left in a vehicle outside the entrance to Samaritan Hospital.

Troopers: Victims in Schodack double murder-suicide identified; State police also ID killer | The Daily Gazette SECTIONS   State police Friday identified both victims in this week’s double murder-suicide, as well the man they say was the shooter, who then killed himself. Manjeet Kaur, 55, and Jasleen Kaur, 14, were both shot and killed during a domestic incident at their residence at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said. The man investigators say killed them, Bhupinder Singh, 57, also a resident of the home, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. All three were found inside the home, police said. A fourth resident, Rashpal Kaur, 40, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, but was able to flee the residence, state police said. She was being treated at Albany Medical Center for wounds described as non-life-threatening.

Troy woman charged with murder after deadly July arson

Created: December 16, 2020 07:18 PM A woman from Troy is now charged with murder and arson in connection with a fatal fire back in July. The Rensselaer County District Attorney says 35-year-old Vera Crumble set the fire at 177 3rd Street on July 17. That fire killed 64-year-old Thomas Bessette. NewsChannel 13 is told Bessette lived in the building, but Crumble did not. A spokesperson for the district attorney she does not know of a relationship between the suspect and the victim.
