‘The Joy of Bach’

Inside the Orchestra – ‘Architecture in Music’
At 10 a.m. March 22 at Baker Museum Signature Event Space, Artis Naples, 5833 Pelican Bay Blvd., Naples. Radu Paponiu, associate conductor of the Naples Philharmonic, lectures on: What are the building blocks of music? This lecture will enhance the listener’s ability to navigate large-scale musical compositions. Paponiu takes famous pieces of classical music as a reference for commonly used musical forms. $40. If you re a baby boomer, you are the chosen one, with three concerts singing your tunes.
Music Director Andrey Boreyko will not conduct any of the three classical concerts. Associate Conductor Radu Paponiu conducts at least one of those and two pops concerts as well. Paponiu also guides an educational LinkUp with Carnegie Hall and the philharmonic, exploring how music affects people and he ll field a class on the architecture of music for its Lifelong Learning Series.
Beethoven s Ninth is back on the shelf. Originally scheduled for May 2020, the symphonic masterpiece was cancelled when COVID-19 restriction prohibited gatherings. Artis Naples penciled it in for this season, along with another choral titan, Carmina Burana. But the pandemic hung on, and both were axed. Next potential date: spring 2022.
