The site is a short walk west to the light rail station.
Prospective buyer Mt. Baker Housing Association has filed the first redevelopment plan for the 3.3-acre Thunderbird Treatment Center, at 9236 Renton Ave. S. It emerged about a year ago that the nonprofit Seattle Indian Health Board would close and sell the facility.
The nonprofit developer hopes to start on its two buildings next year.
Mt. Baker Housing Association announced last week that environmental remediation has been completed for its two-building, 203-unit affordable housing project dubbed The Maddux, near Mount Baker Station. The cleanup from a former drycleaner, gas station and auto repair shop began about six months ago, after prior monitoring. The state provided about $6.6 million for that job.
