MOUNT VERNON, Wash. The U.S. Forest Service is asking for information regarding a theft from the Koma Kulshan Guard Station near the south end of Baker Lake.
The station was broken into late last year and $45,000 of equipment used for wildfire fighting was stolen.
That equipment was used by a specialized wildfire-fighting team.
A Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie Ranger District spokesperson told the Skagit Valley Herald the team will not be able to do its critical firefighting work during the 2021 season without the stolen gear being returned or replaced.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating the theft.
