Randall County announces joint task force

AGN Media Officials with the Randall County Sheriff s Office announced its involvement in a joint task force made up of federal, state and local agencies Thursday to monitor a Bandido Motorcycle Club event occurring Thursday and Friday in the county.  According to a news release, the Bandido organization has been classified as an Outlaw Motorcycle Organization by the United States Department of Justice as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety.  The task force s purpose is to ensure the continued safety of both county residents and visitors, as well as ensuring the public understands that local law enforcement is unwilling to tolerate criminal activity. 

Randall County Mourns Loss of Sergeant Christopher Mays

End of Watch. Three words we never want to hear, because it means we have a fallen officer. Randall County Sheriff s Office unexpectedly lost one of their own Tuesday, May 18th as Sergeant Christopher Shayne Mays passed away. There are few known details surrounding his passing. An autopsy was conducted in Lubbock on May 19, but that is not what anyone is truly focused on. This is a man who dedicated his life to public service and protecting others, and he did it for 24 years in our area. Sgt. Mays worked for the Randall County Sheriff s Office for the past 10 years. He also had a long stint at the Canyon Police Department. With the news of his passing, there has been an outpouring of support for him and some wonderful tributes.

Randall County officials end burn ban

Randall County officials end burn ban AGN Media Officials with the Randall County Commissioners Court ended a burn ban for the county earlier this week, allowing the burning of household trash as well as other items within the county.  According to a news release from the county, only certain items, including domestic waste and on-site burning of waste plant growth, are legally allowed to be burned. The release states that the timing of those burns must be monitored.  This comes after Potter County extended its burn ban for the next 90 days earlier this month. That ban is set to end in early August.

Law enforcement to escort fallen Randall County sergeant from Lubbock to Amarillo Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Law enforcement will escort the body of fallen Randall County Sergeant Christopher Shayne Mays after his autopsy in Lubbock to Amarillo today. The escort will start with the Randall County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Lubbock following the 10:30 a.m. autopsy. The Canyon Police Department will fly colors at I-27 and Cemetery Road as the escort passes through Canyon. Members of the Amarillo Police Department Motorcycle Squad will join the escort at McCormick Road and help direct traffic to the Shafer Mortuary.
