The events leading to 18-year-old Dalton Allon Roland s capture on Feb. 23 began when a deputy observed Roland driving a Ford Escape, with a malfunctioning muffler, in Modoc.

When the deputy shouted for the teen to return, Roland allegedly ran into the house. He later came outside and reportedly struggled with the deputy, at least twice trying to run away, before being subdued.
