Retired Randolph County Lieutenant plans to stay active in community

After 23 years of tackling criminal investigations and putting his life at risk for the protection of the community and its members, Lt. John Davie David Garner is recognized for his service in the Randolph County Sheriff s Office after his retirement in January. In a county meeting Monday, commissioners and the public applauded Garner as he stood to receive a clock for his years of work.  It has been a pleasure serving the citizens of Randolph County for 22+ years, Garner said. Garner, hired on July 1, 1995, was assigned to the Crime Scene Investigation Division where he remained until 2004. Garner left at the rank of Corporal for employment with the County Bureau of Identification in Raleigh but later returned to his home in Randolph County in August 2007 as a Criminal Investigations detective.

An Asheboro man charged with murder in the death of a man whose body was discovered in a rock quarry is facing additional charges. The Randolph Sheriff’s Office said Branson Raye Lambert, 21, is facing robbery charges in a separate case. Investigators said on Feb. 7 the Asheboro Police Department conducted a search of his house on Farr Street. Police said they found evidence linking him to a robbery that occurred at the GH Mart. During their investigation they also discovered Lambert was a suspect in a homicide case that occurred following the robbery.

Staff Writer MONTERVILLE A Randolph County woman is behind bars after being arrested on a charge of domestic battery Monday. Jamie Wildridge, 58, is currently lodged in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $1,500 cash-only bond after being accused of hitting and biting her mother, Betty Wilson. According to the criminal complaint, Deputy A.M. Channell of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Monterville area to investigate an alleged domestic dispute between a mother and her daughter. While en route he was advised that Wilson had allegedly locked herself inside a part of her residence to keep her daughter away from her.
