Richmond Approves Sale of Downtown Public Safety Building

(Courtesy of Capital City Partners) Richmond City Council voted Monday to sell the defunct Public Safety Building on Leigh Street for roughly $3.5 million. Developer Capital City Partners, LLC will take over ownership of the property. Capital City Partners was the development group behind the failed $1.5 billion Navy Hill/Coliseum project, which included the sale of the Public Safety Building. Monday’s council action allows the developer and the city to salvage what was considered a relatively non-controversial piece of the Navy Hill deal. Mayor Levar Stoney’s administration negotiated the deal. Stoney has called the sale “a win for Richmond” and said it’s part of a larger strategy to repurpose vacant or underutilized land in Downtown.

In a specially called meeting, councilmembers adopted three ordinances authorizing the sale of the city’s Public Safety Building property and adopting a development agreement with Capital City Partners, which is planning a 20-story, VCU Health-anchored tower and mixed-use office complex on the bulk of the 3-acre property at 500 N. 10th St.

Making Moves: TWO MEN AND A TRUCK

Making Moves: TWO MEN AND A TRUCK March 1, 2021 Expand If you’re like many people in the community right now, you might be in the market for a new home. Whether building or buying, you have a lot of decisions to make – you need a mortgage and/or construction loan, a realtor, a builder, and, when the time comes, a moving company. When it comes to finding a moving company, there are plenty of options out there – so how can you choose which one is right for you? Here are some things to look for. First, be sure the company you choose is licensed and bonded. There are plenty of independent movers out there – but don’t let the word “independent” fool you. That typically means they are unlicensed and uninsured. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, on the other hand, is not only licensed and bonded, but they also pride themselves on hiring great movers – and they provide them with plenty of training, growth opportunities, and quality benefits.
