A long-established family engineering business based in Llanelli has been snapped up by MBH Corporation in the investment holding company s first acquisition of 2021.
Fabrication and heavy machining specialist 3Ks Engineering was established in 1969 in South Wales by Ronald Hanbury. It has been run for the past 20 years or so by sons Kevin and Karl Hanbury who will remain in the business post acquisition. The company s staff base with the average tenure of an employee (excluding the Hanbury brothers) of 11 years.
The Machynys business, which generated revenue of £4m in the year to 31 January 2020, was established to largely serve the oil and gas sector and the majority of its customer base remains in that sector, although they serve a range of industries with clients across the UK.
