A patient at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who’s accused of carrying a loaded gun into the Boston hospital in a backpack was arrested Sunday evening, authorities said.
Officers responded shortly after 7:15 p.m. to Brigham and Women’s at 75 Francis St. after security team members became concerned that a recently admitted patient had an illegal firearm in his possession, according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

On Tuesday, March 30 members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force arrested 23-year-old Reymundo Ortiz of South Boston after responding to a call for shots fired in the area of 123 Heath St. .
The incident occurred at 11 p.m. on the above date when officers from Jamaica Plain’s E-13 station were on patrol near the Bromley-Heath Housing Development when they heard the sound of gunfire in close proximity.
The officers located numerous spent shell casings and observed ballistic damage to three motor vehicles as well as one nearby residence.

A Jamaica Plain man has been arrested in connection with last month’s non-fatal shooting on Centre Street.
On Tuesday, March 2 members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force, with the help of the Massachusetts State Police, located and arrested Jonathon Lopez, 24, of Jamaica Plain at Boston Logan International Airport.
Lopez was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant issued out of West Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying Loaded Firearm and Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building.
Police took out the warrant for Lopez, which was granted by a West Roxbury District Court judge, following an investigation into a non-fatal shooting last month.
