Dealers looking to buy used cars amid new car shortages

Created: May 09, 2021 06:49 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) If you’ve received an unusually high number of emails or letters from car dealerships recently asking you to sell or trade-in your car, you’re not alone.  It’s due to a shortage of new cars – specifically the computer processor needed to build new cars. Dealerships are now attempting to buy back used models in order to boost their inventory. Many of them are ramping up their marketing strategies to incentivize customers to sell or trade-in their used cars.  Anyone noticing more emails and letters coming form car dealerships recently, asking you to trade in or upgrade? It s because there s a shortage of one particular part, and dealers are trying to boost their inventory. I ll tell you all about it on @news10nbc at 6pm. ??????

Rochester Auto Show to take one-year hiatus due to pandemic

Credit therochesterautoshow.com One of the longest running and largest annual events held at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center will not be happening next year due to the coronavirus. It’s the annual Rochester International Auto Show, which originally was scheduled to happen the end of February. But the convention center has been closed for events like that, and even though the show was a couple of months away, Brad McAreavy, president of the Rochester Auto Dealers Association, said they really had no choice but to cancel the show. “The notion of having tens of thousands of people rolling through there over a four-day period of time, under the circumstances here today; even though the show wasn’t scheduled until the end of February we obviously were forced to make a decision now because of the need for the advanced planning.” McAreavy said the Rochester Auto Show will be held in March 2022.
