The Wadena County Sheriff s Office says the young victim suffered serious injuries Tuesday afternoon after becoming entangled in a piece of farm machinery at a rural property north of Verndale. A news release says the child, whose age and name have not been released, was mixing feed and got caught in a power take-off shaft. Google The person who called 911 indicated they were transporting the injured child to a nearby hospital in their personal vehicle. A medical helicopter was then dispatched and brought the victim to the North Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

Police say the 8-year-old got off a city bus in the 3600 block of 18th Ave NW around 6:00 pm. He was with his sister and a family friend. The boy s mother said they decided not to take him to the hospital by ambulance.  She later took him to the ER where he was treated for a bump on his head and arm and leg lacerations.
