The Old Rochester Regional School District announced has reached 100 total cases of covid since its Sept. 16 reopening.
The district announced its 99th through 105th cases in press releases on Jan. 6. The new cases were found in Sippican School, Old Rochester Regional High School and Rochester Memorial School.
The 105-case total is a reflection of all the cases which have been contracted by students, faculty and staff at the district not the number of active cases currently in the district.
The individuals who tested positive for the virus at Sippican School, ORRHS and Rochester Memorial were last in school on Dec. 23. The district’s holiday break ran from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3, indicating that the cases were spread within the community.

At the recommendations of the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester Boards of Health, all schools will operate as normal on Dec. 15.
With three new cases at Sippican School, Rochester Memorial and the Old Rochester Regional High School, the Old Rochester Regional School District has reached 51 cases of covid since its reopening on Sept. 16.
The cases were reported by the district in press releases on Dec. 14.
At the recommendations of the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester Boards of Health, all schools will operate as normal on Dec. 15.
The cases come as covid is on the rise in all three towns, according to state data.
