9 Apr 2021, 09:25 Genr8 Developments and Japanese funder Kajima have confirmed that the chain will operate a 146-bedroom hotel within the town centre regeneration project, after plans for the second phase were approved yesterday.  Rochdale Council voted to grant the joint venture consent for the £70m mixed-use scheme, which features 242 apartments and a 44,000 sq ft office, as well as the Hampton by Hilton hotel.  “This is another significant step forward in the wider regeneration of Rochdale,” said Mike Smith, founding partner at Genr8 Developments. “This scheme will deliver high-quality hospitality, living and working space in a sustainable, thriving, and eclectic neighbourhood. Having a major brand such as Hilton as part of the development at this stage is extremely exciting.”

16 Mar 2021, 10:22 Developer Genr8 has formalised its partnership with Japanese investor Kajima Corporation, seeking further town centre regeneration opportunities across the UK. The arrangement follows the opening last year of the £80m first phase of Rochdale Riverside, a 200,000 sq ft retail and leisure destination designed by architect TP Bennett. The scheme opened in spring 2020, featuring a 50,000 sq ft Marks & Spencer and a six-screen cinema. Having completed an £80m funding deal with M&G Investments to deliver the scheme, the partnership’s contractor Wilmott Dixon started on site with remediation works for the next phase, which is to include 240 apartments and a 146-bed Hilton hotel.
