ALLOCATION of housing to the local housing pool was a key debate in Legislative Assembly on Thursday. MLA Roger Spink insisted to the Chair of the Housing Committee that it was for his Committee, to “come forward with proposals on allocations, to the MLAs.”
He said: “We voted money for a large number of new houses, and they have not been allocating new houses to the local pool. And that is up to the Housing Committee who should be coming back to members with their proposals.”
He questioned MLA Elsby about whether the committee had met and if yes, what work had been undertaken.

Falkland Islands lawmakers discussed on social media and in the Legislative Assembly late in 2020 a need for a ‘pre-election program’ to encourage members of the public to stand for election as a Member of the Legislative Assembly late in 2021.
The aim is to ensure that there is adequate knowledge as to what challenges and responsibilities the office represents.
A Legislative Assembly Press release confirmed that a pre-election program will be run for those who have an interest in standing to be MLAs in 2021, or those who have a general interest in Falkland Islands politics.

An Argentine businessman, president of one of the country s largest corporations, has been awarded the Order of the British Empire, OBE, for “his services to relations between the United Kingdom and Argentina.”
At the ceremony in the Argentine embassy in Buenos Aires, Eduardo Eurnekian was informed by Ambassador Mark Kent CMG of the honor, the highest awarded to a non British citizen.
Mr. Eurnekian, who is an outstanding entrepreneur as head of the Corporacion America, which among other assets holds the concession of all Argentine international airports, plus others in Uruguay and Italy, will be receiving the medal in coming months.
