STAMFORD Imagine dropping off your child at school one morning and, just as you’re pulling away, you see a person with a handgun strapped to their hip walking right by the school.
Alarmed, you might call 911, but under existing state law, that gun bearer would not be required to show police proof that the gun is legally owned, unless an officer has reasonable suspicion a crime is being committed.

Without order, there s chaos: Stamford looks to regulate short-term rentals like Airbnb
FacebookTwitterEmail
STAMFORD Like most things in Stamford, the conversation about short-term rentals began with a parking problem.
Rep. Rodney Pratt, who represents the West Side, in 2018 started getting complaints about strangers parking on the street. Neighbors started raising an eyebrow at people coming and going from the West Side after short stints or parking their cars on the street. People asked about the safety of their community, and the safety of their kids.
“You don’t want your neighbor with two kids worried about the strange guy that came in next door, or the strange girl that came in and left, or the group of people that came and were there for four days partying,” said Pratt, D-9.
