Basements flooded again on Detroit s east side and in Grosse Pointe
DETROIT – Communities, including parts of Detroit’s east side and Grosse Pointe, were hit hard with flooding three weeks ago.
And on Friday, residents were faced with their basements flooding again.
Wesley Burns lives in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood. Unfortunately, it is not his first time dealing with water in his basement.
“All I know is out of the last four years or five, we’ve been flooded,” Burns said.
Orson Poulsen has gotten all the tiles laid down in the bathroom in his quilting cottage. âNow,â he says, âall I have to do on that project is put the grouting in.â However, he admits to still having to do some more finishing touches on the building.
Orson and Jeannette are very happy to see some of the pea plants coming up in their garden already. They bought some more seeds to plant. Orson has taken this seasonâs first irrigation turn. It lasts 21 hours. It starts on Thursday and ends on Friday throughout the summer. The couple has also purchased some tomato plants, but will keep them in the house for a while longer.
