Mountaineers Gear Gratefully Accepted By Santa Fe Shelters

In their Dec. 12 drive, the Los Alamos Mountaineers collected about 800 cubic feet – a few tons – of clothing and gear for four Santa Fe homeless shelters.
The gear was ferried to the shelters by Mountaineers and friends via multiple trips of cars, trucks and shelter vans. At St. Elizabeth’s shelter, the staff person recognized the Mountaineers – “Haven’t you been here before” – and accepted the gear with huge thanks.
Some of the gear didn’t even make it in the shelter door. While a Mountaineer volunteer was at the front door intercom arranging the delivery with the staff inside, an older man waiting at the door overheard the conversation.
