THE FLATS – No. 31 Georgia Tech men’s tennis heads to Rome, Ga., for the start of the 2021 ACC Men’s Tennis Championships at the Rome Tennis Center, opening play as the No. 8 seed against No. 9 seeded Miami on Thursday, April 22 at 3:30 p.m. (EST).
The Jackets are on a two match win streak following victories against Boston College and Louisville to end the regular season. Tech finished the 2021 campaign with a 12-8 record, with a 6-6 (.500) showing in conference play. Earlier in mid-February the Jackets suffered a 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes on the road, giving them extra incentive to start post season with a chip on their shoulders.

No. 11 Clemson (10-13, 2-10 ACC) and No. 6 Virginia Tech (11-8, 6-6 ACC) are set to square off for just the second time in conference tournament history on Thursday when they go toe-to-toe in the first round of the ACC Tournament. First serve for the match is slated for 6 p.m at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga. The winner of the match advances to face third-seeded North Carolina at 5 p.m. on Friday.
The Tigers enter the tournament after three consecutive wins over No. 43 Liberty, Boston College and UNC Wilmington. No. 111 Teodor Giusca has won five straight singles matches heading into tomorrow’s contest, going 6-4 over the last 10. Additionally, Jorge Plans Gonzalez and Spencer Whitaker both hold four match win streaks in singles.

THE FLATS – The sixth-seeded and No. 16-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team opens the 2021 ACC Tennis Championship on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. facing No. 14-seed Virginia Tech. Due to cold conditions forecasted for Thursday morning, all Thursday tennis matches have been pushed back an hour from their originally scheduled time. The tournament, which runs April 21-25, will be played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
THE SCENE: Georgia Tech seeks its fifth ACC Championship this week in Rome, owning four tournament titles in program history. The Jackets bring a 15-9 overall record into the tournament and closed out regular season play with an 8-5 ACC ledger.
