(WBTV) - On Wednesday, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Thomas Leach, 38, of Salisbury, for numerous narcotics and weapons violations. The United States Marshall’s Service had located Leach at 506 Harris Road, Salisbury. Leach had outstanding warrants in regards to a Salisbury City Police Department Investigation which included: assault on a child under 12, statutory sex offense with a child, statutory rape of a child under 13, and indecent liberties with a child.

(WBTV) - A 15-year-old who went missing out of Wilmington, North Carolina in November was found Wednesday in Rowan County, officials say. Landon Neal Harrelson was reported missing by his parents after being last seen on November 23 at 1 p.m. Harrelson’s parents remained hopeful for their son’s return, but worried that he was in danger. The Community United Effort Center, which was offering a $5,000 reward for Harrelson’s return, received a tip that Harrelson may be in Rowan County. Officials went to a home on Bradshaw Road in Mt. Ulla and found Harrelson during a search of the home. One of three other people in the home was a 27-year-old woman wanted on drug charges.

(WBTV) - One person has been arrested after the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office say the suspect led them on a low speed chase. Deputies say they tried to pull Charles Dennis Turner, III over for a traffic stop, but he refused and led them on a low speed chase for about four miles, eventually stopping near 2270 Glover Road. During that time, he allegedly threw multiple items out the window of his car that were later found to be 327 suboxone strips and four grams of oxycodone.

(WBTV) - Kara Alsup, the 25-year-old Rowan County Sheriff’s Office deputy who died in a crash n Charlotte last week received a police escort back to Rockwell on Monday. Alsup was brought back to the Powles-Staton Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are pending. Before going to Rockwell, the procession went through downtown Salisbury and in front of the Rowan Sheriff’s Office. “I think that the officers and the personnel from the courthouse, clerk of court, judges, showed respect and honor for her career as a detention officer and I think everyone has been touched by the accident…a life cut too short,” said Major John Sifford.
