Portland will have one final sunny and warm day in April, adding to a long string of rain-free days for the month.
High pressure will keep skies mostly sunny Thursday, and the temperature will climb near 78 degrees at the airport, and possibly higher in some valley locations, according to the National Weather Service.
A weak cold front, sagging southeast into Washington and northwest Oregon, will bring chances of rain to finish out the month Friday. Temperatures will also cool to more seasonable averages with a high of about 66 expected. Rain may begin in Portland about 11 a.m. and continue into the afternoon.

High pressure continues over the metro area Wednesday leaving skies mostly clear and temperatures climbing.
The National Weather Service says Tuesday’s thicker high clouds may be pushed north Wednesday leaving the Portland/Vancouver area with brighter sunshine and temperatures of about 75 degrees.
The exception will be along the coast. Increasing coastal clouds are possible and will keep temps in the high 50s if they stick around too long. Some communities may see breaks in the clouds and temperatures that warm into the 60s, but afternoon breezes could be strong and keep temperatures down even with sun breaks.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning in much of the northern and central Willamette Valley and along the coast of elevated fire danger through Friday night.
The unusual warning comes in what should be the wettest part of the spring, but unseasonably warm and dry conditions are joining with dry fuels, gusty winds and relative humidity dipping into the teens to create conditions that could cause the quick spread of any outdoor fires.

The Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI) has announced an exciting new partnership with Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) that will see the creation of two new Kilkenny-based degree courses for students.
The redesign and further development of the DCCI courses in Ceramics Skills & Design and Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills & Design will mark a significant milestone for the sector. It will ensure a high level of craftspeople will graduate with enhanced qualifications in Ireland, while keeping the ancient skills of goldsmithing and ceramics ‘throwing’ alive.
GMIT was chosen as DCCI’s higher education partner following consultation meetings with seven third-level institutions across the country.
